CSC Limited - Interim HR Service Delivery Partner (May 2015 - Ongoing)

A contract role covering a business transformation programme which includes supporting managers to restructure their business areas to meet the changing organisational programme; large scale UK redundancy programme; support and advice to senior management on redundancy where sickness, disability and maternity leave are an issue.

CSC Limited – Interim HR Service Delivery Partner (February 2012 – December 2013)

A contract role which includes: UK lead on global restructuring exercise; HR lead on a closure of a number of sites and relocation of employees to other workplaces (between 15 and 100 headcount per site); HR lead on several TUPE transfers both in and out of the Company (between 2 and 25 people); redundancy calculations and consultations; support and advice to senior management on a variety of HR issues, including Employment Tribunal cases; Compromise Agreements; overpayments.

Sabbatical (August 2011 – Feruary 2012)

Following my studies, I decided to take a break to catch up with friends and family and, along with my husband, to set up a small business selling greeting cards made from our photographs. I also continued with my voluntary role as minute secretary of the local Biodiversity Society. I have kept up-to-date with developments in employment law and HR in general and am now seeking a new challenge in an HR Management or HR Business Partner role.

Studying (January 2011 – July 2011)

I took voluntary redundancy from Hampshire County Council to complete my studies for a Post-graduate Certificate in Employment Law (PGCEL) which I passed in July 2012.

Hampshire County Council (November 2000 – January 2011)

HR Manager (September 2005 – January 2011)

Role: Providing strategic and operational HR advice, support and coaching for senior managers in a variety of departments; leading a team of between 2 and 40 HR professionals; complex Disciplinary, Capability, Grievance and Redundancy cases, including advocacy at dismissal and appeal panels; investigation of serious Grievance and Conduct cases; support on TUPE transfers; Project lead for various corporate and HR-related projects.

Key Achievements:

  • production of policy and guidance on departmental reorganisations and on TUPE transfers;
  • HR project lead for project to centralise (and reduce costs for) the Facilities Management operation for the whole of Hampshire County Council;
  • setting up an absence reporting process for pandemic flu or other emergency situation, together with guidance for managers and staff;
  • the transfer onto the recently agreed pay framework of a significant number of staff who had originally transferred to the Council under TUPE terms;
  • implementation of a skills improvement programme and successful progression of team members.

HR Business Partner – IT Services (September 2004 – August 2005)

Role: A Business Partner role, providing strategic HR support to IT Services’ Management Team and senior managers.

Achievements:

  • successful roll-out of Employee Self Service and Manager’s Desk Top elements of integrated HR system (SAP HR);
  • complete overhaul of induction programme;
  • overseeing successful Investors in People re-assessment;
  • successful progression of team members.

Personnel Manager – IT Services (March 2003 – September 2004)

Role: Management of a team providing generalist personnel support for IT Services department – advising managers and staff on all Personnel issues, including recruitment and retention; pay, benefits and conditions of service; induction and Investors in People; work force planning; communications; Employee Relations procedures and processes; Health and Safety; sustainability

Achievements:

HR Project Officer – SAP HR Implementation (December 2001 – February 2003)

Role: Configuration of Training and Events Management and Employee Relations modules of integrated HR system (SAP HR). Presentation of prototype system to potential users across whole Council. Facilitation of workshops and focus groups to understand and agree requirements of users. Documentation of all system and business processes. Writing test scenarios and facilitating testing of the two modules. Training users and providing ongoing support. Consultation and liaison with users and other interested parties. Close team working with colleagues who were implementing other modules of the SAP HR system to ensure integration worked correctly.

Employee Relations Officer (November 2000 – December 2001)

Role: Production, updating and amendment of corporate Employee Relations policies and Trade Union consultation regarding implementation across whole Council. Advising other HR professionals and managers on ER issues. Preparation for, and attendance at, Employment Tribunals. Complex Disciplinary, Capability and Grievance hearings. Producing and running training course for managers on handling Disciplinary, Capability and Grievance cases. Presentations on various ER subjects.

Senior Personnel Officer (August 1999 – November 2000)

Role: Advising managers/directors on all HR issues; writing policies and procedures; Company representative at external meetings, employment tribunals, etc; writing and running training sessions for employees.
